Scale is a big thing I need to work on getting across clearer.
So I have hired out a camera with a macro lens to experiment with photos. I plan to go to a park with to scale images of my characters on cardboard to stand them up in the environment and take photos. This will hopefully show the scale they actually are and show my intentions. For these experiments I am not fussed on only having NZ native plants but I will try find some and photograph those.
I'm also wondering about taking photos of buildings around Invercargill that would be relevant to my characters and then scaling them down to fit a miniature environment. For example a tech shop like Jaycar where Katie would get camera equipment. Mitre 10 Mega where Fletcher would get supplies for his inventions. Hilda would be into the trinket shops to add interior design decor. Next would be to pick the right environment for those to be scaled down to.
I do have many many photos I have already taken photos of, so I'll go through those first to check what could be used.
These photos will go at the bottom of the walls in my exhibition and maybe a long the window.
Really cool video about Macro lenses and that they aren't just for bug faces. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9283cLf4e0
That guy's channel looks very interesting for photography tips. He also has Premiere Pro and Photoshop tips.

Maybe make some images cinemagraphs? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dD_yeVMUzo
Perhaps with my cut outs of the characters I could set up a diorama of Fletcher's house? I have the floor plan for that. I have yet to make it in Maya though.
Another thing to do is research some artist models in-depth. From my exercise I have picked out a few shows that relate more to my show than others. Stand outs are:
- Lloyd in Space
- Braceface
- Gumball
- Rocket Power
- Teen Titans Go
These will be whittled down to about 3 or 4 main ones. I will use those to talk about in my proposal.
In my proposal I should probably talk about visual novels and my plan with mine for that.
My plan at the moment has been scaled down to a definite good animatic of the first episode with sounds and dialogue and everything. I also want to have a finished visual novel with a mini game and some animations in it. I don't know if I will have time to fully finish a whole episode. But enough stuff to showcase for funding, is fine by me. This is my plan at the moment:
- Full animatic 'draft' of the episode
- Fully finished visual novel version of the episode with inter-cut animations
- Pitch Bible book printed
- Art book, activity book maybe?
- Mobile game to do with the episode
- Faux kickstarter campaign? with rewards
This does mean I definitely need music and voice actors which I need to ethically consider.
